COMING SOON: Images from Summer Trip 2011 [England, India, Netherlands, the Baltics and Germany.]

Every summer I try to keep NotManhattan up to date with the latest images from my travels, and every summer I come across road block after technical road block. So, this summer I am thinking of keeping it simple. The iPhone can really capture things impressively, so this summer hopefully (if my wordpress app works properly) I’ll be doing mini-blog entries using Instagram and pictures from my iPhone. When possible, I’ll do a full post with some of my Nikon images but I’m pretty sure I’ll save that for September, when I get back…

Hope everyone has a fantastic summer.

Habitual

Call me obsessive-compulsive (say it four times, please, while turning around in two complete circles.  Then wash your hands.  Thanks.) but no matter what I intend to do on days I actually intend to do things, most of my task lists get thrown out and I just end up in Union Square.  I do try to do the touristy-stops that I always avoided upon moving to the city over 7 years ago (for example, Battery Park last weekend:)

But I end up confused, bored, or yearning for my rectangular area surrounded by bars, shops, and crazy people.

For example, at Battery Park, I was just as disappointed as I thought I would be by the very tiny statue.   For encouragement, though, I also took some shots of the general park area:

but still wound up once again at Union Square this weekend for shopping, gourmet cart food, and a too-cold-but-in-denial outside lunch with the squirrels:

NOTE: I am not generally this obnoxious and close-minded.  When it comes to any other city, exploring is my ultimate idea of a fabulous way to spend the day.  However, in one’s own city, it would be a lie for anyone to state they don’t have a comfort zone.  I like my comfort zone.  So there.  No apologies…
