Depending on the predator (animal or vehicle,) this turtle could be either very grateful for, or incredibly bitter about, the notoriously terrible road conditions throughout Georgia and the Caucasus region and the resemblance to his patterned shell. We halted our journey to the monastery for a minute to let him pass safely by and were fairly certain he would be safe thereafter as no one else would be traveling down that road for a very long time.
