Stra Gusto 🍴 Festa del Cibo di Strada / Street Food Festival

Stra Gusto

Stragusto Facebook

When we passed the sign while walking into town for another night of pasta and wine, a cat licking its chops while reading the words Cibo di Strada, we immediately knew what we’d be doing the next night: STRA GUSTO.

The next night we bought 10€ worth of food tickets, prepped with a few cocktails at a nearby bar and then headed over with hungry bellies to Piazza Mercato del Pesce for some Sicilian and International street food.

Here’s a rundown of what we enjoyed:

🍴 Cùscusu Trapanese (con pesce)  5€

Delicious!!! Not fishy tasting. I don’t mind fishy tasting but it’s always a nice surprise when a classic local seafood dish doesn’t shock the palate. Well flavored. Came with a sauce of some sort.

🍷 Red/white wine by glass 1€ (!)

Very good wine, especially for the price. Crisp, out of boxes, what more can you want.

🍴 Polpo (Octopus) 6€

With lime. Exquisite. (Had a small sampling of some other octopus dish with breadcrumbs and something spicy.) The guy just took a whole octopus out of the cooler, plopped it in the boiler for a minute or so then chopped it up into bite size pieces for us.

So, one portion = one whole 1f419-twitter

🍴 Patate di Galatina Al Vincotto (Spiced boiled potatoes) 3€

Ingredients: Rosemary, pepper, salt, olive oil, balsamic vinegar plus, I think, cumin and maybe saffron.

Holy crap amazing. A lovely level of tartness and almost sweetness?

🍴 Nem 5€

Senegalese egg roll type of finger food with spicy sauce. Vietnamese influence. Pork (typically, at least?) with rice vermicelli and veggies. Spicy red sauce with the perfect level of heat. Fantastic.

Quick wine stop at Adragna Vini where they pour wine, that they make themselves, directly from the barrels into your glass. Guests sit outside on the curb on cushions. Great atmosphere and even better wine.

Then, a bit more festival:
🍴 Pasta Fritta (Fried dough) 4 piece = 1€

Not fresh but good. Drier than usual? Maybe because of the late hour. Again, still good.
