A few outside shots of the incredible Teatro Massimo, an opera house first opened in May of 1897 (at which point a ticket would have cost you 80 liras, or 5¢.) It closed for renovations in 1974 and re-opened in May 1997 (almost exactly 100 years to the day after the initial opening) after a “quick” 23 year renovation.
